Mid Century Jewel Box

About

Originally built in 1956, this compact Eugene mid-century home had accumulated decades of deferred maintenance while remaining largely intact. It was thoughtfully restored and reimagined as a bright mid-century jewel box.

The renovation centered on reimagining the kitchen as the heart of the home. We introduced two-toned cabinetry with generous pantry storage, open shelving, and a dedicated coffee bar, paired with custom modern pendant lighting over the sink and coffee station to add a sense of craftsmanship and warmth. To celebrate the home’s mid-century character, the front door was repainted a vibrant orange-red and the original mahogany paneling was carefully restored.

Continuous white oak floors help the home feel more expansive and cohesive. A black iron–framed sliding door was added to create separation between the formal spaces and the large family room while maintaining light and visual flow.

This home went pending in one week for ~13% over the asking price.

Black iron–framed sliding doors were added between the dining and family rooms to create separation while maintaining light and visual flow. A new mid-century inspired chandelier anchors the dining space and reinforces the home’s architectural character.

This project centered on a renovation of the home’s kitchen to improve both function and visual impact. The redesign introduced two-toned cabinetry with built-in pantry storage, open shelving, and a dedicated coffee bar, complemented by quartz countertops, new appliances, updated lighting, and electrical upgrades. The result is a warm, functional kitchen that feels both modern and aligned with the home’s mid-century character.
